IMG_1692We believe that all gardening and landscaping should be ecologically friendly. In all phases of our work – from design, installation and construction, and maintenance – we follow the philosophy that what is beautiful is more beautiful when its practical, an in harmony with its surroundings. Attracting birds & butterflies, saving water & electricity, even growing food for the table can all be achieved with a well-planned and aesthetic landscape.

We believe a garden should coax you into the outdoors, reward you with its beauty and changes through the seasons, nourish you in the time you have to enjoy it. We believe great design can only be achieved with knowledge. To that end we take the time to educate our clients and to learn from them their preferences and sensibilities. Each garden, or garden project, is crafted to reflect their style and what they enjoy.

A native Texan, Jason Minshew’s education in gardening and design began in Dallas working alongside his father, also a professional landscape designer. His knowledge of design and plants grew through more than a decade of work for landscapers and nurseries.  Annie Taylor studied fine arts with an emphasis in textiles and later continued her education at Parson’s School of Design where she concentrated on retail design.  Presently Annie is busy being a mother, works in the office for JBird & Company, and does freelance illustration and interior consultation (click here to see Annie’s blog).

The two met in 2000 while co-managing Gardens in Austin, TX. After creating a small urban farm in South Austin, the couple started JBird & Company in the Winter of 2008.
